Sing With Us!
Have you been thinking about singing again? Maybe you loved choir in school, or you’ve been quietly humming at home and wondering if there’s still a place for your voice. There is.
This is Hamilton’s choir.
When you join, you will be singing alongside neighbours of all ages and backgrounds, from students to grandparents, all sharing the same love of music.
The Details
- When: We rehearse Tuesday evenings, 7:15–9:30 pm at The Gasworks.
- Terms: There are two terms each year: September to December, and January to June.
- Performances: Each season features three major concerts in December, March, and May, giving you several chances to perform for Hamilton audiences. There are also optional community performances throughout the year where we bring music to parks, malls, and local events.
- Cost: Membership is $150 per term. This covers music, venues, and professional direction.
FAQ
Auditions (don’t panic)
No need to prepare anything. Just come to a rehearsal, sing with us, and meet Dr. Dave, our Artistic Director. He’ll guide you through a few scales to help place you in the section that fits your voice best.
What if I’m rusty?
That’s normal. Some of our singers read music fluently, some learn by ear, and most are somewhere in between. You’ll improve as you go. The only real requirement is a love of singing.
What kind of music?
Our concerts include everything from classical masterworks to jazz, pop, Canadian favourites, and even Broadway. You’ll never get bored.
Who joins?
Our members range from students to grandparents. What we share is a love of singing and a sense of humour (rehearsals are full of music and laughter).
Your First Night
Show up on a Tuesday evening, grab a folder, sit with your section, and sing. After rehearsal, chat with Dr. Dave to confirm your voice placement. That’s it. No pressure, just music.
